Trauma affects everyone differently. I, as a counsellor will work with you to create a tailored treatment plan that best suits your needs and goals and guide you towards healing in a way that feels comfortable for you.

Evidence-based techniques
West Devon counselling uses proven therapeutic techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) focusing on the connections between feelings, thoughts and behaviours, Psychodynamic Therapy, which focuses primarily on clients self awareness and understanding the influence of the past on present behaviour,  and other mindfulness-based therapies. These methods help you to reframe negative thought patterns, process traumatic memories, and reduce emotional distress.

Building emotional resilience

Trauma often leaves individuals feeling overwhelmed or powerless. Therapy will help you to develop coping strategies and tools to build emotional resilience, so you can regain control and feel more grounded in your daily life.

Grief
counselling

Grief comes in many forms, and no two experiences are ever the same. Whether you've lost a partner, parent, child, friend, or someone else close to you – whether the loss was sudden or expected, recent or years ago – it can leave you feeling overwhelmed, isolated, or unsure how to move forward.

Some losses carry layers of trauma, unanswered questions or complicated emotions, especially when someone dies by suicide. If this is part of your experience, please know that your grief is valid, and you don’t have to go through it alone.

As a counsellor – and someone who has experienced deep personal loss  – I offer a compassionate, non-judgemental space where you can speak openly about your feelings, no matter how painful or confusing they may be. You may feel sadness, guilt, anger, relief, numbness – or all of these at once. Together, we’ll explore your experience in a way that feels safe and respectful.

My role is to walk alongside you, helping you make sense of your grief, understand how it's impacting your life and find your own way to healing, one step at a time.
